We were performing at Westbury Music Fair sometime in 2002. This is a theater in the round and the stage rotates 360 degrees. The Channels, with Earl, are on the stage while the band plays in the pit. We are singing a song and as we pass the band, our drummer makes a clown face and waves at ME. Why did he have to go do that? I bust out laughing and I get dirty looks from Earl and the other Channels. When we came off stage, it didn’t matter that I told Earl our drummer made a clown face and made me laugh, I still got my ripped by Earl.
You would think I learned my lesson but… no!
We performed at a school in the Bronx – my hometown so to speak – and a lot of my friends came to see the show. Unfortunately for me, they were sitting in the front row. There is a song we do where each of us “freeze” into a random position while Earl sings a verse. I “froze” looking straight at my buddies and they were making all sorts of clown faces and I couldn’t help but bust out laughing. That didn’t sit well with Earl and the other Channels but we got through the rest of the song with my eyes closed.
